Clare Delaney is a fine art photographer with a keen eye and a love for all visual arts.
Clare grew up in the regional town of Kyneton. She was always a lover of art across all mediums and has an affinity with nature. At the age of ten, she began exploring her fascination with photography after watching her father take photos on his Pentax K1000 when she was ten years old. Clare’s father taught her about ‘seeing the light,' and how to see the world through her own eyes and imagination. He inspired her to begin her pursuit of art and has helped shape the way she approaches her concepts. Without his guidance, Clare wouldn’t be where she is today.
While Clare was beginning her high school experience, her love for photography grew as she continued to be inspired by the world around her; especially her friends. She began to frankly photograph them and create little stories through the portraits she captured. In 2013, at 17 years of age - alongside her mentor and father Anthony Delaney - Clare had her first exhibition; Into the Light at GasWorks Arts Park, Albert Park Victoria. The work was a collective sharing of both Clare and Anthony’s worlds through the lens of a camera. This was Clare’s first leap into the industry of photography.
Currently, Clare is in the process of photographing and creating a body of work, Here to Eternity a series surrounding themes of memory, loss and grief. This work is apart of PSC’s Advanced Diploma Art Major graduate show, Fresh 17. The work will be on exhibit from the 18th of November 2017 until the 3rd of December 2018 at the Yarra Sculpture Gallery in Abbotsford.
