Under my Skin the Devil Within
This project explores the internal mindset anxiety has on a person struggling with the mental illness. The manifestation of anxiety is expressed through a cycle of a panic attack; in which there is peak tension that eventually fades again. The photographs were taken at night with one light source in order to have dark shadows and a background that could become completely black in post production. I wanted this dark and constructing aesthetic to emulate the internal struggle as with nothing to distract the viewer within the frame. I used a slow shutter speed in order to blur the figure, as though the anxiety is controlling the figure; like how it feels when a panic attack comes on.
